About Pastor Tex
Your guide on the road
Nobody ever sat Ray Lang down and taught him how money works. After eighty years, a few costly mistakes, and a lifetime of listening to people with the same story, he wrote the book he wishes someone had handed him.
Ray “Tex” Lang, known to many as Pastor Tex, is a retired Christian minister. He came to Christ at 54, was ordained in 2014, and spent eighteen years in ministry.
Over those years he sat across the table from young couples, working families, and retirees, and heard the same story again and again: good, hardworking people who had never been taught how money works.
He knows that story firsthand. Like most of his generation, Tex learned to work hard but was never taught what to do with his wages, and that lack of knowledge cost him more than once. Wealth Wisdom is the book he wishes someone had handed him as a young man, and the Companion Workbook is the help he wishes had come with it.
At eighty, Tex is still learning and still teaching. He lives in Austin, Texas.
Why the old books
Wealth Wisdom lays out twenty-eight principles for working, saving, managing, and keeping money, drawn from Benjamin Franklin, P. T. Barnum, Russell Conwell, and the Bible. They aren’t new. Somewhere along the way, we just stopped passing them down.
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
Proverbs 24:3–4
